Youth Soccer
Youth soccer at St. Mark is an extra-curricular activity for children from Pre-Kindergarten to 4th Grade. It is also an all-volunteer organization. The soccer teams play in the West Houston Christian Sports Association (WHCSA), a league consisting of Christian churches and schools of various denominations in the West Houston area. This league places more emphasis on development than on the competitive aspects, with Christian-based rules regarding player, coach and parent behavior, but don’t be misled, we play hard!

| Register for 2012-2013: Soccer Registration Form Registration Deadline Date: Friday, August 31, 2012 All teams must have a coach by the close of registration. 2012 - 2013 Season: September 22 - November 10 |
Our Teams
St. Mark has both boys and girl’s teams. Depending on the number of players registering, we may collapse two grades together or at the lower levels, we may play girls on some of the boys teams. All teams must have a coach to form, so don’t be shy about volunteering to coach.
Our Schedule
Teams typically practice one day per week for 1-2 hours. Games are on Saturdays from the middle of September to Thanksgiving. Make-up games are scheduled separately by the coaches and normally take place during the week. We train on the school grounds at 1515 Hillendahl. We have 4 fields available to us that we use for training and on game days.
Registration fees:
Pre-K, Kindergarten, PeeWee & Minor Divisions (includes uniform) - $110.00. Those
players that are not enrolled at St. Mark, please make checks payable to St. Mark
Lutheran School. The fee includes team equipment, team pictures, trophy and game referees for PeeWee & Minor Divisions. These fees also help defray field maintenance and
equipment costs.
What do you need to provide?
Soccer cleats (no baseball cleats), shin guards, and practice clothes. Soccer balls are required for team and home practice. Each child should have a water bottle. It is very hot during the beginning of the season and we need to take frequent water breaks. They also need these at games. To maintain safe play, players without shin guards will not be allowed to participate in practice or play in league games.
WHCSA Philosophy
Our program is built around the following principles:
- Developing players’ Soccer skills so that they have the necessary skills to play school sponsored or club soccer after the 4th grade
- Developing character in each player based on principles set forth in the Scriptures
- Teaching sportsmanship and teamwork.
- Instilling in each player a desire and determination to play up to the best of his\her ability.
