1/29/2012 He Descended... He Ascended...

The Apostles’ Creed is a statement of beliefs that contains 112 words that are so powerful that they have been lived and died for over the last 1,800 years. It is as old as the church and for many, it is one of the divisions between Christians and non-believers. What does it mean to you today?

Creed: 112 Words to Die For Timothy Duerr
1/1/2012 What's in a Name?

In scripture, people’s names actually described them or were used to make a statement about them. We see that in Jesus’ name. As we look at the name that is above every other name, we see that He has placed His very name upon us as His people. Think about what it means to be called by the name of a “Christian” or a “Christ” follower today.

12/25/2011 The LIGHT Shines in Our Darkness

Christmas is the day we celebrate the beautiful event of Jesus being born. What a reason to celebrate! Because of Jesus, God doesn’t look at us and our sin the way we look at ourselves. He looks at us through this perfect Baby! He sees us as His forgiven children through His Child! That is a wonderful reason to celebrate today and forever!

12/24/2011 Glory to God in the Highest

I often think about what that first Christmas was like. Angels and shepherds, Mary and Joseph, so many people crowding the city to prepare for the first census. What I don’t imagine is a “silent night.” I imagine most of the city was full of loud, stressed out people, tripping over themselves because of the congestion and from the darkness they were in. Yet through it all, there was this precious newborn Light from heaven in the midst of them. We need God’s shining Hope and Love to fill our lives and our world.

During this Advent season, let us remember, that families need love, places of acceptance, places to share their lives together, and places to teach their kids to give, because these are all the things God has done for us.
