Law and Gospel - Pastor Schultz
This class is studying the book The Proper Distinction between Law and Gospel written by Dr. C. F. W. Walther. Dr. Walther is best known as the first President of our denomination, the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod (LCMS). His thirty-nine lectures delivered on Friday nights at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, from September 12, 1884 through November 6, 1885, form the content of this book. They were meant to help pastors in preparation for their sermons. What is made indelibly clear in these lectures is that “through the declaration of the divine Law and the proclamation of the Gospel, man can definitively know that His relationship with The Triune God is a matter of grace and grace alone.” If this distinction is in any way distorted, the message of salvation through Jesus Christ will also be distorted.
Thursdays at 6:00 p.m.
Location: Conference Room 155
